Sri Lanka – first week

Stefan Loå Adventures abroad

LOTS of things happen when you travel around in Sri Lanka for three weeks, below is a conclusion.

First week

I was supposed to work at the Green Lion Project at Ambalangoda on the west coast for two weeks.

But the project wasn’t as expected, the room we lived in was very unsexy, and we had to wait, wait, and wait for our supervisors to show up.

Anyhow, we took care of the turtles and explored the city of Ambalangoda.

Removing leeches from the turtles was not a favorite activity :O

You lose your finger if the turtle bites it.

The second day I met a Danish guy, Jesper Søegaard, a big viking with a tatto on his arm and a knack for attracting women in bars 😉

We decided to escape the Green Lion Turtle Project and headed to Hikkaduwa.

DCIM100GOPRO

Hikkaduwa was FANTASTIC, it is the surfing Mekka of Sri Lanka – so we stayed here for ten days.

Just watching the waves rolling in can transform anybody into a hippie.

We visited Galle a few times (procounced “Gåll” in Swedish.)

I wouldn’t recommend it. Lots of traffic, not much to see…

DCIM100GOPRO

… except a big, ancient forte us stupid tourists visited, and it offered a spectacular view over the ocean.

Then back to Hikkaduwa, of course…

… and boy, was it hot or was it sweaty in that train. Sheesh!

Second week – now it begins!
