My danish companion left for some Trekking and I took off to LaPoint surfing camp at the Ahangama beach.
This is the view from the main house of the LaPoint surf camp, at the Ahangama beach, the very southwest of Sri Lanka (borrowed photo).
If felt like being trapped in a social prison, so I took off after two days. First I visited Matara all by myself, the city at the very south of Sri Lanka.
It was a wealthy and beautiful city with lots of educated people. The finest large city I visited in Sri Lanka. HOT like hell, though 🙂
Then I visited Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka
I don’t recommend Colombo for a tourist. Traffic everywhere and no specific areas to enjoy…
…sure, there were some markets among the car pollution, and a park where teenagers in love spent their time together (borrowed image)…
…but mainly, everything was like an unsorted mess everywhere.
Kandy at the center of Sri Lanka was beautiful!
They offer Elephant safaris where you ride elephants, buddhist temples to visit, but I just milled around in the city (borrowed pic).
The train to Kandy offers spectacular views (borrowed photo).
And the train back from Kandy to Hikkaduwa offered one of those magical moments. It was getting dark outside, had no idea if I would make it home during the night, people behind me speaking russian, and the dark landscape passing by outside.
Then I went home to a grey and soulless Stockholm thru Adu Dhabi, Istanbul and Paris.
Hope you enjoyed 😉
